    Holiday diary take 2
So here goes again, an attempt to collate everything from the holiday that is now over 3 months from the actual happening...

    DAY 4:

Had some sort of curry pancake for brunch after a long sleep in. Both the sleep in and the pancake (potato dosa) were brilliant.

Again spent the day lazing, playing cards and generally relaxing.

Come evening Genny took us to a little food shop not far from where she works, and we had Chaat for dinner. I am still to find out what Chaat we had because it was really really really really nice. But our desert was better.

Jelabies, easiest explained as "Deep Fried Sugar Syrup" Eaten hot they are as close to divine as I have ever experienced.

Between Pa and Genny we then purchased a good kilo of sweets for snacking on back home and we only managed to get maybe a handful of the different sweets there.

First Rickshaw ride today too, that was fun, motorised mayhem on wheels. I think I'm getting used to the traffic though.

Tomorrow rest, we have an overnight bus ride to Hyderabad to catch up with one of Pa's old school buddies.

Ok so I was going to update more often.

and then my computer died, turned out to be a dead graphics card, I have got one on loan from a friend.

So onwards, tomorrow, tonight I am knackered after a long and arduous game of indoor soccer and K is demanding attentions.

    Messed up
Hey all, so I messed up and didn't post yesterday, so here is two posts in one :o

    DAY 2:

Today was mostly lazing around to get over Jet lag. Mind you there is only 2 hrs 30 min difference, I don't think I even registered a jet lag...

Went down the road for breakfast, had my first unpleasant experience. On the way home I was followed by a little beggar boy, the kid must have been all of about 3 or 4 yrs old if he was lucky. It's hard to try to distance yourself from that sort of thing, especially when you have a nephew a similar age. You can't help but feel for them, but on the other foot you can't help but wonder if he really was in need or if he had been put up to it and used by someone else as seems to happen there quite a bit as well. Still a morose and sombering issue none the less.

The girls all had work today so we kind of just lazed around and chin wagged. Aunty Nirene is a rather switched on old lass. She ended up taking us down the road to a little market area just before dinner, she wanted to pick up some bits and pieces to cook for us. Dad and I also picked up some PJ's as we had both forgotten (The girls ragged us about this quite a bit before they left for work).

    DAY 3:

Trip into Mysore today, left home early (0800hrs is early over there, normal seems to be about 1000hrs) Stopped for breakfast about 0930/1000 not sure where but it was a nice place, great food and a top cuppa.

Mysore Palace was the next stop, and wow, that building is a hulking mass of awsomeness, it's huge. They allowed photos outside the palace proper, but they wouldn't allow photos inside which was a pity as that is where the most impressive stuff was. Intricate carvings in doors, walls, pillars, some doors were identical to their neighbour, we spent about half an hour at one pair of doors trying to find a fault that would break their imaculate bond of identicity (if thats a word)

Brindivan Gardens was the next stop, after lunch of course. Again Wow, these gardens are impressive, more so for the massive back drop of a dam wall, the dam wall was getting into all our photos, very unprofessional of it lol.

We left the gardens about sunset (roughly 1830 hrs) the trip home was an interesting one in the dark. Traffic seems to know no time limits there and even at roughly 2200 hrs when we got close to home the traffic was still about double what we get on the freeway during the day.

Ok so days 2 and 3 up, still sorting through photos so I'll get those up soon, hope your enjoying the story so far, I think it's a little bit of a long way round doing it like this, but it also keeps from having too big an entry all at once.

    For now, enjoy.

    Day 1 (Sept 1st)
So, The holiday, started on September 1st with an early morning flight and a late landing to finish. Pa (Dad) always said Day 1 was the worst day of any holiday, and yes, I can now fully agree, as soon as the holiday starts you can call it over. Time follows no normal physical phenomena while the word 'holiday' is bandied about. Day 1 is day 1, then days 2 to x just seem to blur together and before you know it your home and work is calling to say that there have been some interesting changes and could you come in an hour early on Monday.

    Anyhow, On with the story:

Left home at 0330 to swing by Mum and Pa's and pick Pa up. Got the the airport just on the 3hr marker, checked in our baggage and went for a coffee. Mum, Shelly and K's parents came to see us off.

Into the Departure lounge for the first time. After so many times seeing people go through those doors at the airport I think I had set myself up in expecting something with a little more grandeur. Still it was a first step.

Had a rather turbulent flight into Singapore where we had a 6hr stop over. I must say Singapore was far closer to what I was expecting from Perth airport through the departure lounge doors. That place is massive, shops everywhere and so much to do just in the airport. Had lunch and was to many coffee's waiting for our connecting flight to Bangalore. Also walked pretty much every square inch of Changi airport.

After our Connecting flight to Bangalore we had arrived, 2230 or there abouts, local time. We were picked up at the airport by my Aunt and one of my cousins. My cousin had used her influence at work to get a company driver to take us back to their place, where we met the rest of the crew.

Traffic at that time of night resembles freeway traffic just after peak hour. Still fairly busy but moving. Problem being these guys don't stick to their lanes, the beeping is incessant and they try to squeeze 4 or 5 lanes of traffic onto a road marked with 2 lanes. Still they seem a lot more fluent drivers than a lot of people I have seen at home trying to navigate simple single lane traffic...

We ended staying up to about 2am chatting and catching up / getting to know each other. They have met Pa before, 10 yrs ago maybe, and only spoken to me a half dozen times (maybe) on the phone. So it was an interesting night.

    ...

Stay tuned for day 2, or take a sneak peak at www.geatjealous.com/kate.dan

    Inspired
So I'm back, for those of you missing me ;)

Back in the country from a nice long overseas holiday and back into LJ to brag about where I went and what I did.

Some photos will be posted as well, but not every photo that was taken, between K and myself we managed over 3500 of them :o

I've decided I'll put up regular posts, like a daily post for each day of the holiday, that way you can kind of 'travel' along. I'll probably start tomorrow as I don't think there was any photos for the first few days.

And for those wondering where I actually went, I was in India for 3 weeks (Kim, I'm going to have to read all your entries again :o) Then Nepal for 3 weeks (Yes EBC was the goal here) and then 1 week in Singapore to 'relax' before coming home and going back to work.

Anyhow, I'm off to sort through photos.

    Till tomorrow.

Ok, so I havn't really been keeping my promise of a weekly update...

But truth be told, nothing all that exciting has happened in the last fortnight...

True my birthday was in amongst that, and probably the only exciting thing to happen... Still collecting photos from people for that, so it could be a little while.

Had a Scifi/Fantasy theme to it, and cocktails. The cocktails were pretty interesting, pulled them from a website which I can't remember off the top of my head at the moment.

The first we tried was called 'Jedi Mind Trick', very nice, baileys, kalua, ameretto, rum, ice cream and milk.
The second was 'Romulan Ale' every bit as potent as the star trek version and that was missing one of the ingredients, supposed to have bacardi 151, blue curacao, and everclear, we couldn't find everclear so swapped for vodka, the everclear is supposed to be more potent than the 151 so probably a good thing we didn't manage to get any lol
The third cocktail was a disaster, called 'The Master Chief' primarily a vodka and redbull drink... I don't know whether we were to far gone to make it properly at that point or not, but it was a little wrong.

all in all a good night, and hopefully some photos soon... if I can remember how to post them...

    OOOGA BOOOGA
    Surprise everybody

Just me doing my seemingly normal just out of the dimly lit periphery and into the lime light... why does it have to be green?... for a brief stir up and even faster departure... though hopefully not this time.

Well it's been a long time since April... 6 months or there abouts... Wow, talk about inconsistency...

    So...
** Sums up 6 months in thought **

Not much happening same old same old

Nah, kidding, lots has been happening. Lets see...

First semester of Building design passed without really trying
Work promotion to assistant manager (nice little pay rise there)
Moved house, been out... 2 months now (on K and my yr and a half, coincidental assuredly), nice to be away from the parents, got a bit more room to play around with too which is nice.

... hmm, will have to look over the last 6 months and give you guys something a little more substantial than that drivel lol, still something to wet the pallet and get you ready to read more me in future, I hope...

I know I keep promising, and not delivering, so here it is, once a week at least... Look for me on a tuesday night...

And Finally a welcome to [info]juliet_bravo, sneaking in on me. I don't know how long you've been reading but welcome (finally).

    Black Friday
Well as some of you might be thinking about my sudden return, no K and I haven't split ;) infact I have just returned from a delicious meal she cooked for me to celebrate 15 months together (yay us). Black friday, the night where it all started, and still holds stong :) Just a pity she got shafted with night shift.

So those concerns allayed we move on to the feature film of the evening, "Madness of Rassilon's House" or something along those lines...

So, since my last post, or more correctly the post before that...

I started the year on a bit of a down note. My grandpa's bro passed away, a great man and will be sorely missed. He always had time for us kids and always knew the best mischeif.

K returned from her halfway round the world cruise closely followed by one of her friends weddings down in the southern burbs. Booked us a couple of nice nights at the Esplanade hotel which was a nice get away if not entirely out of the city. And Good for the wedding and our first yr together to boot.

Also had another friends engagement, nice afternoon out in the sticks at Lake Leschenaultia.

An interesting story about that party in sticks-ville. I went without K as she had work that arvo. She decided after work to drop round to a friends for a few drinks. Just before I left the engagement party she msg'd me the address, I jumped in the car shortly after and took off. I stopped about 5 minutes later to grab the map book and find out where this friends place was. A few moments that in all probability saved me from being totaled.

Coming along Great Eastern Highway I rounded a bend to see a car. Not just any old car, but a flying car. Harry potter eat your heart out? No, some kid lost control, apparently had been speeding, tried to overtake in an overtaking lane, spun out and into the ditch (anyone who knows G.E.H. knows those ditches, for any one else they are about 10 ft wide and about 5 deep). I happened to see the car about 5 ft off the ground and in it's last...2 seconds of movement. There were 2 cars ahead of me on the road and 1 behind the poor fellow on the other side of the road. With a Fireman, ex Ambo and a Nurse. Nice time to have a crash. Myself, I helped a little... not much to be done so ended up standing on the road side directing traffic for a few hours while the mop up crews arrived.

Notably we still havn't left Janruary behind. Commet McNaught was a sight and I am glad I saw it on multiple nights, especially towards the end of it's showing, alas unfortunatley I was not at Hillarys for that swanky photo, but my sister assures me she is one of those in black waving the sparkler around in the middle.

Australia Day for me was spent in South Perth, raking up a $160 parking fine because they didn't bother to tell us that gaining vehicle entry into the south perth area didn't mean you had parking, no every man and his dog who wanted entry got entry, despite there not being adequate parking facilities for all these cars... biggest load of horse shit I have had to deal with and I'm not overly happy about the whole thing, I mean honestly, I may as well hand over my sould next year, there probably wont be much difference wether I get parking or not. (much swearing and curses muttered)

February yay, Most notable things, Do at Jo's which I missed much to my disappointment, and if I was to stroke my ego to the great disappointment of all those attending ;) good thing I don't stroke my ego, apparently you can get arrested for that sort of thing...

I also enrolled in a drafting course at tafe, diploma in building design and tech. Was feeling a little useless having chucked in uni and still not having a piece of paper thought I would try something I was at least interested in for my own when I was younger. See how we go shall we lol.

Other than that 3 birthdays, My Bro, his kid (my god did we make a mess for this one, first birthday what can you do though really lol), and my mate Kev.
Another Funreral, which I unfortunatley couldn't attend, for a friend of a friend who went out with cancer... I don't think the poor girl hit her 20's...

March! Not much really happened. St Paddy's day was disappointing... 2 of us (my ex and I, odd combo really) did a small pub crawl and had a beer at Rosie's, Novaks, The Brass Monkey, The Shed where we were joined by a third, then onto The Elephant, and then I think it's called Galaxy? Still a nice afternoon, a little disappointed in all those who said they would be there and wern't, but ah well.

Went to see Akmal (the comedian) Funny stuff, pity about the heckler, but was funny none the less.

Also went to see some friends doing "Jesus Christ Superstar" at the Marloo theatre (they were in the band, but still).

April is here now, and Easter I worked the Sat so didn't really plan much. K and I went down to Mandurah on the sunday morning and came back monday, a little holiday that will have to suffice till our weeks travel up north in July.

And that is pretty much it. As I promised a huge post to let you all know whats been going on, a nice big post to fill up your friends pages and tell you I'm back. And hopefully to start the habit of updating regularly again.

And whats this business about phone posts? What the? How do I do that, that would make life loads easier, on me not on you guys though, you'd all have to put up with my incomprehensible thought trailings and wanderings... hmm... Will have to find out more, till then

Yeah I'm still here, though I've not been updating much or online much for that matter either...

Though I will be over the next couple of nights, just to give you a pre-warning about a hugely massive update thats coming your way ;)

Think of this as the pre-release, or the trailer, except this has absolutley none of the best bits... and really has no actual relavance to the coming post...

Ok, So I owe you guys a first post of the year... inevitable that the year is already 1 week old... not starting to well am I?

    Anyhow... New yrs resolutions...

    1. cut down to 85-90 kg weight... and stay there. should probably do a monthly update on this... anyone want to get a 'blow-by-blow' account?
    2. Finish the book I started for Nanowrimo.
    3. Grow in mind and Sprit. To long have I ignored 2/3's of my self... time to reclaim the whole.

and that'll do me for the moment.

Other than that... nothing much happening... except the following quiz that has been pinched from multiple sources...

    Since everyone is joining in...

Dans 2006 ... incomplete and abridged... and possibly wildly inaccurate... I have no real idea of what I did at the start of the year...

Did you want the Fantasy or Sci-Fi version? )

Note: I have taken some degree of creative licence and the above is mostly acurate if embellised... but you all enjoy a good story don't you

Anyone pick the lyrics I used?

Still Alive.... So who ever is sending those ninja's they havn't been very good so far ;-)

So yes what has happened since my last post... lots and nothing... well really , lots and nothing...

Oh my.. all the way back in November... Um, lets see... since then

Have yet to get my car looked at...

K is now away on holiday... Cruising from Thailand to Sydney, left on the 20th back on the 12th :-( I didn't think I would miss her this much hey :-( ah well...as they say, "absence makes the nose grow longer"

Christmas was good nice and quiet, peaceful even... much enjoyment in watching my nephew having more fun with the cardboard boxes than with the toys that were inside... his first christmas too, he stood up the the excitement well...

Boxing day went to one of K's friends places to watch the cricket, stayed there for lunch then back to another friends for a swim in their pool, much fun had there with ball throwing games and genreal keepy off.

Today back at work... no days off for me until new yrs day, then working the 2nd but have 3 days off after that so I'll be heading out of town for a bit to catch family I didn't get to see over christmas. be a bit boring going by myself but I have not left the perth metro area for a long long long long time... it's starting to .... oppress me... or it might just be me missing K...

anyhow, short and sweet, thats it pretty much... so I'll leave you to it and update again in oh... lets aim for before new years eve just to be different lol

I guess I should update, it's been how long?

Not much to tell really, still working, still got the same girl (which is a good thing) Whats to tell since the last update... lets do a big search here....

Oh shit, all the way back in october... bugger me...

Only 4 big things come to mind

1: Went to "The Pink Floyd Experience" Rocked, was a bloody good show... then came out from the show to find my car had been keyed (scratched with a key or some such) Very annoyed about that. Spoke to my insurance about it, Have to get it looked at which is taking time cause I just cant get 5 minutes at work at the moment to call anyone, I'm barely getting 5 minutes to scoff lunch :-/

2: I have Guildwars Nightfall special ed, yeah so it came out Oct 29 ish (can't remember exaclty) but is rocks as did the last installment. very impressed by their quality atm...

3: Have been boradening my perceptural horizons. No not by smoking dope, by reading, bought a book on witchcraft (not the details just the broad overview) a book on I Ching, this now adds to my collection on Kaballa, aura reading, dreams, tarot, Star gazing, and feng shui... I also have a bible and a book of mormon hiding somewhere but I dunno where.

4: Doing Nano again, have done about 7000 ish words on a pretty intriguing sort of novel... will have to work on actually finishing this one even if I don't win Nano. I think this one has enough 'new' plot style to pass the reams of the 'same old same old' fantasy genre.

Anyhow, I'm got to blaze, the girl has arrived.

And I will try to update again before november ends...

    guess who is still alive?

yes me, albeit just. Spent 2 and a half weeks house sitting a friends place while they went honeymooning around Yankee Land. Had my new lappy to keep me from going nuts, but no internet connection (except some unsecured wireless in the vicinity which I didn't want to use on basic moral grounds)

Came home last night, after the first of 2 days off, cleaned the place up before their return, then had lunch with the lovely [info]drabbo who cooked up the most wonderful pasta.

Then today, I spent cleaning my room... it's been hard going from a house to myself (and my better half) where there was very little of my stuff to mess up the place, to home again and a room that in looking at it now I will fully admit to it being an absolute pig sty. So tidy it I tried... I will admit I got distracted by a certain lappy on the net but I got most of it sorted at least into stuff I need to store, pitch and scrutinise more closely. Still it's a start that shall be finished over the weekend...

Other news I ventured down to sprint training tonight. Our coach seems to have gotten worse over winter and instead of trying to work us into killing us just went straight to the point of the matter... mind you I havn't been training and they all started mid Sept, but everyone else still complained.

dunno how good it'll all be, but I better start at least loosing a little weight, or toning up... my week is going to soon consist of the following call me a sucker for punishment, or even masochistic... :-(

Monday: Sprint training (Grass), Indoor Volleyball (beach)
    Tuesday: Cricket Training
Wednesday: Sprint training (Sand), Indoor Volleyball (hard court)
    Thursday: Cricket Training, Indoor Soccer
    Friday: Sprint training (Grass)
Saturday: Cricket (when I have Sat off)
Sunday: Surf Life (again when I have Sunday off)

If I don't start loosing a few kg here and there this summer I give up :-(

anyhow, thats a rather large update to go on with, I may post more later maybe... for now I have volleyball to go to (let the punishment begin lol)

hi guys, yes I'm still alive :o

Whats been happening since my last update? Not an awful lot. And really I have been starting to ask myself why...

I recieved the answer today while looking at the month of september on my calendar...

2 weddings 2 engagements and 4 birthdays (not including my own) bugger that lol

Anyhow what has happened, the little bit of excitement, the prelude to the next months mayhem...

Friday night I went to see the gorgeous Kim for her birthday celebrations, all in all wasn't to bad a night, didn't get to talk to as many of the other 'party goers' as I would like and like young Kim might have to organise a catch up with you all at some time soon... though not any time in september... except for my birthday if that happens...

Saturday spent cleaning (blerk). Saturday night however I went to see "Drum Tao" the japanese drumming group.... Bloody fantastic I must say, an absolute rip snorter of a display I loved it so much I even bought the DVD, though that has some fun camera angles and some spiffing special effects that I'm not quite sure work as well as the plain wide angle I got from my own two eyes... but still pretty good ;)

Sunday was up early (shock horror) and into the city for the 12km City to Surf (ouch) but I did surprisingly well considering I did no training at all :o
Placed 8729th out of 26,008 official entrants (YAY ME!) and did it all in 1:43:16 (of which I'm certain it took about 10 to 15 minutes to cross the actual starting line so closer to an hour and a half...)

After the run came home, did some car maintenance and realised at some point soon I will have to change the oil (is looking pretty manky) so thats another job for september... oh boy :o

Then after fiddling under the bonnet of my car I watched the Dockers Flog the Eagles in probably the most hyped up local footy match I have known. Interesting game that the Eagles should have won, and probably would have if they had turned on in the 2nd, But the Dockers played well and made their 8th straight and possibly a top 4 berth for the finals...

Interesting stuff for a usually non active footy supporter ;-)

Anyhow, that should be enough to keep you all happy for oh... about 4 yrs considering my spate of recent posts ;-)

Nah kidding I will try to update more often... just having interesting things to say is .... hard finding

So here I sit looking at my friends list thinking "How the hell am I supposed to read about a month of backlog..." whilst a second little voice whispers "and how long has it been since you updated"

So something in brief then before I skim the top off my friends list (Hopefully the cream) and go with that. If I have missed anything ground breaking like someone dropping a 10 kilo cement block out of a 12th story window let me know.

Hmm, so it wasn't that long ago I updated... well June 27th wasn't a real entry... neither were to 2 before that really...

well something to go on with as I have run out of time... as usual... Today I bought a car... still finalising all the details but I have a car coming my way pretty soon ;)

I also started my new position as Assistant manager in training at Joondlup... Just have to prove myself there I think and get to know all the bits and bobs and I'll get a promotoion on paper ;)

    proper update to follow shortly...

    tomorrow even...

    ** crosses fingers **

    I hope ;-)

Ok so I been a little out of the loop again...

I got myself a new hard drive with room to swing a virtual cat... problem being that in putting it in I mucked about with stuff (Will I ever learn not to do this?) and in the process stuffed the system to a degree.

read I lost all my internet settings and all my lovely 'make life easy' shit as well as having to ri-install certain programs that the system now refuses to recognise...

I have in the process not been able to read my friends list since about wednesday last week... so if anything important has happened to you since the 13th of this month please let me know so I can check it all out...
